Obituary

The funeral service for Ronald J. Sylvester will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7th, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, rural Kellogg, MN. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha with Military Rites by the Millville Valley American Legion Post #579.

Ronald Sylvester, 71, of Wabasha, MN went home to the Lord, surrounded by his family on Monday morning, November 4, 2013 at St. Elizabeths Health Care Center in Wabasha.

Ronald John Sylvester was born April 12, 1942 in Wabasha, MN to Elmer and Lois (VanHouten) Sylvester. He attended rural Wabasha County Schools and graduated in 1961 from Wabasha High School. On October 15, 1961 he enlisted in the US Army and served his country proudly until his discharge on August 14, 1962. Ronald married Linda M. Heaser, April 11, 1964 at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview, MN and was later divorced.

Ronald lived in several areas in Wabasha County and Eyota, MN. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Willie Holms of Goodhue, Ames Construction Co., Charles McKay Construction, Bennett and Sons, Lehnertz Trucking, and Mallard Seed. Ronald loved spending time playing cards, going fishing, trapping gophers, and enjoyed raising pigs. He was a member of the Millville Valley American Legion Post #579.

Ronald is survived by four daughters, Laurie (William) Albers of Eyota, Kristine (Paul) Bedney of Plainview, Charlene (Jim) Balcome and Stephanie (Jon) Amos both of Elgin; two sons, Douglas (Denise) Sylvester of Kellogg, and Ronald (Donna Wurl) Sylvester, Jr. of Plainview; 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Dorothy (LaVerne) Boyd of Plainview, Elaine (Lonnie) Ludwickson of Alma, WI and Lisa (James) Kostuck of Winona; six brothers, Robert (Carol) Sylvester, Donald (Shirley) Sylvester, and Russell (Leigh) Sylvester all of Wabasha, Gerald (Linda) Sylvester of Cedar Falls, IA, Richard (Laurie) Sylvester of Rochester, and Elmer (Karen)Sylvester of Wabasha. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 infant brothers, and one granddaughter, Danielle.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, MN and one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday.
