Obituary

Ruth Gladys Goede, 94, of Plainview joined the Lord peacefully Friday, January 9, 2015.

Ruth was born July 5, 1920 in Stewartville, MN to Peter and Constance (Nelson) Lawson. She attended and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1939.

Ruth was employed as a housekeeper for Dr. Craig in Rochester. She met the love of her life at the Pla-Mor Ballroom in Rochester. On the first day of spring, March 21, 1943, Ruth married Bruno Goede at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plainview, MN. They were married for 52 years until his passing on November 22, 1995.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; she belonged to ILCW, Young at Heart and also helped at church with the bulletins and newsletters. She was a member of the Plainview American Legion Auxiliary Unit 179 for 54 years and past president of the North Central Region of the Retreads Motorcycle Club.

Ruth enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and on their motorcycle. They toured Canada, Europe, England, and every state in the United States on their cycle. She enjoyed sewing and had a passion for baking and sharing her cookies and treats with family and friends. Although she had many hobbies and interest and they all filled her with happiness, it was her faith that came first and where she found the true joy and peace.

Ruth was a loving mother to three children, William (Marie) Goede of Plainview, Jean Henke of Chatfield, and Julie (Joel) Eggenberger of Plainview: six grandchildren; Darcy, Brett, Tara, Mychelle, Emily, and Jay: one great grandson Jamison. She is also survived by one sister, Myrtle Tebay of Stewartville, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno; brothers, George, Harry, and Vern; sisters Viola, Margaret, Dorothy, and Deloris; son-in-law Kenneth Henke.

In celebration of her life, please join the family for her service on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor John Fuchs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
