On July 12, 2021 , Sharon Ruth Sibilsky died in Wabasha MN at the age of 82 .

Sharon is survived by her children, Susan (Joe) Hardin of Fort Smith AR; Steve (Virginia) Heikell of Caldwell ID; Paula (Pete Fisher) Heikell of Las Cruces NM; Sandi (Kevin) Nelson of LeRoy MN; and Chris (David Cichosz) Sky of Wabasha MN. Surviving sisters are Sandy Norton of Nampa ID; Pat Coon of Hancock MI; Sally (Roy) Nakkula of Lake Linden MI and sister-in-law Donna (Bob) Shea of Calumet MI. She is also survived by her aunt and uncle Vernon and Dolores Winquist, her grandchildren Krystal (Michael) Hengesteg, Catherine, Emily, Megan, and Anna Cichosz, Levi Sky, and great-grandchildren Penny and Wyatt Hengesteg. She is survived by many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon "Gus" Sibilsky in 2012 and brothers Dale, Rodney and Alan Karrio.

Sharon was born on August 13, 1938 in Laurium MI to Glenwood and Ruth Karrio of Allouez MI. She married Gus in 1972 in L'Anse MI and embarked on a life together raising their five children, completing their college degrees and pursuing careers in education together. Sharon earned her BA at Michigan Technological University in Houghton MI, her MA at Michigan State University in Lansing MI, and contributed 26 years as a dedicated teacher of English at Finlandia University in Hancock MI. Sharon was an inspiring supporter of her family members, students, colleagues and friends. She served on the board of the Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home in Calumet MI. She also taught evening classes at the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Center in Baraga MI, volunteered in the Wabasha Children's Reading Program and Koffee Klutch in Wabasha MN. She was active in several choirs, an avid gardener, loved nature and fitness, and was keenly interested in her family's Finnish roots.

Sharon fearlessly pursued a future that enriched the lives of those around her. She appreciated people of all ages and walks of life and honored God. She always took time to live well with nature.

Private services will be held. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the charity of your choice.
