Stanley James “Jim” Whiting, 74, of Lake City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Jim was born April 14, 1952, and spent most of his life in Rochester, Minnesota, before moving to Lake City for the last three years.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, sharing stories and laughter along the way. Known for his great sense of humor and love of storytelling, Jim always had a story to tell and enjoyed bringing laughter to those around him. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins and had a lifelong appreciation for classic cars.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Brian) Quinn and Christie Whiting; his grandchildren; and his brothers, Danny (Martie) Whiting and Ken (Diane) Whiting.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 42 years, Cheryl Marie (Tucker) Whiting; his parents, Stanley and Betty Whiting; and his brother, Larry Whiting.

In keeping with his wishes, Jim donated his body to the University of Minnesota to support medical education and research.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
