The memorial service for Thomas Modjeski will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father John Wilmot officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona on Saturday, August 31, at 11:00 a.m.

Thomas Edward Modjeski, 80, of Lake City, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.  He was born January 7, 1939 in Winona to Valentine and Bernadine (Janikowski) Modjeski.  He attended school in Winona and graduated from Cotter High School.  In 1961 he married Joan Ratchford at St. John's Evangelist Church in Independence, Iowa.

Thomas was and electrical engineer and worked for IBM for 33 years.  He was a former president of the IBM Retirees Association, a former AARP Defensive Driving Class Instructor and President of the Board of Trustees for the Villa Maria.  Tom loved spending his free time golfing, on family camping trips, playing softball, running, and bicycling especially in Europe.  He also loved to socialize and travel. He enjoyed spending winters in Venice Florida.  Tom was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan Modjeski of Lake City; son, Tim (Julie) Modjeski of Frontenac, and daughter, Lisa (Don) Stemaly of Sarasota, FL; 4 grandchildren, Drew, Jill, Erik, and Taylor Modjeski.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Larry.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
