Timothy "Tim" Mark Boardman, 49, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Methodist Campus. He was born on January 31, 1975, in Rochester, to Dennis and Judith "Judy" (Sykes) Boardman. Tim graduated from Elgin-Millville High School in 1993. On October 14, 2000, he married Alison Mickow at Peace United Methodist Church in Elgin.
Tim lived his entire lifetime in Elgin. He began his working career during high school at Fleet-Farm in Rochester and following graduation he went to work at AB Systems, Inc. and then worked at Ceco Concrete Company. After Ceco he returned to AB Systems, Inc. where he was currently employed as a Project Superintendent.
Tim served his community of Elgin as Mayor for the past four years, prior to becoming mayor he served on the city council for six years. In his free time, he loved watching football, especially the Vikings, listening to 80's hair band's, watching NASCAR, going hunting, road trips, boating, fishing, and spending time with his dog Roxy Jean.
Tim was diagnosed in January 2024, with AML. On May 29, 2024, he underwent a bone marrow transplant but relapsed in December of that year. The family wishes to thank the Hematology, Bone-Marrow Transplant, and Critical Care Teams at Mayo Clinic – Methodist Campus for their exceptional care during his year-long battle with Leukemia.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Alison Boardman of Elgin; two daughters, Rachael Boardman of Elgin, and Audumn Boardman of Rochester; his parents, Dennis and Judy Boardman of Plainview; two sisters, Cathy (Bob) Crary-Miller of Elgin; Melissa "Missy" (Todd) Cutting of Millville; and a brother, Kent (Denice Corbin) Boardman of Kellogg. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and infant sister, and many aunts and uncles.
The funeral service for Tim will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, at Peace United Methodist Church in rural Elgin with Pastor Abigail Ozanne officiating. The burial will follow the service at Elgin Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, at Peace United Methodist Church in rural Elgin, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
