Obituary

Vernon Lewis Altman, 76, of Lake City, passed away unexpectantly on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the VA Clinic in Rochester.  He was born December 3, 1943 in Billings, Montana to Ralph and Lula (Palin) Altman.  He grew up in Billings and attended school there until the 10 th grade.  Vernon enlisted in the US Army from January 10, 1961 to January 10, 1964 during the Vietnam Era.  While serving in the Army he obtained his GED.  On November 4, 1967 he married Lorena Farrens in Billings, Montana.

Vernon was an over the road truck driver.  He enjoyed spending his time woodworking, and helping his daughter on the farm.  Vernon especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them.  The Altman's moved to Lake City in 2012.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Lorena Altman of Lake City; daughters, Shawna (Bryant) Kranz of Lake City, and Verna (Jeremy) Jensen of Grass Range, Montana; six grandchildren, Allison, Lance, Jacob, Devon, Shane, and Kayla; and 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Karen Reimer of Sioux Falls, SD.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Lois Carroll.

Vernon wished to have his body cremated and no services will be held at this time.
