The graveside service for Vernon H. LaFee was held on Monday, December 8th, at 1:30 p.m. at Elgin Cemetery in Elgin with Pastor Chuck Coggins officiating.

Mr. LaFee, 84, of Plainview, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.

Vernon Harry LaFee was born May 10, 1930 in Dallas Center, IA to Vernon A. and Grace (Taylor) LaFee. He grew up in Iowa and attended Dallas Center area schools. Vernon served his country from December 20, 1950 to October 15, 1953 in the US Air Force.

Vernon farmed for a few years in Iowa, and then moved to Minnesota. He lived in the Kellogg, Plainview, and Elgin area since 1958. Vernon enjoyed building bird houses, spending time hunting and fishing and going to Texas.

Vernon is survived by his children, Michelle (David) Axley of Elgin, Dan LaFee of Minnesota City, and John (Karen) LaFee of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
