The memorial service for Vincent H. Meyer will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in rural Kellogg, with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will be in Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Conception in rural Kellogg. Military Rites will be by the Plainview American Legion.
Mr. Meyer 82, of Rochester, passed away Tuesday morning, January 31, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.
Vincent Henry Meyer was born April 15, 1934 in Wabasha, to John and Mary (Tushaus) Meyer. He attended rural Wabasha County School. Vincent served his country in the US Army from July 20, 1955 to May 3, 1957, receiving medals for Marksmanship and Good Conduct. In 1959 he married Genevive Melandy, they were later divorced.
Soon after marriage the Meyer's moved to Rochester, where Vincent worked construction in the Rochester area most of his adult life. He was a member of the 49er's Labor Union, and the Eyota VFW.
Vincent enjoyed going fishing and hunting, doing woodworking, and spending time in his garden and mowing his lawn. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Vincent is survived by his children, Cathy (Lee) Groebner of St. Charles, Steve (Wendy) Meyer of Bertram, TX, and Dave Meyer of Rochester; four grandchildren, A.J., Drew, Brooke, and Dustin; a sister, Marian Miller of Plainview, and a brother, Leo (Bonnie) Meyer of Wabasha. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Larry, and special friend, Elsie Ness.
Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
