The funeral service for Wayne V. Wegner will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27th, at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Pastor Kevin Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Mr. Wegner, 77, of Mazeppa, passed away late Friday evening, August 22, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

Wayne Vincent Wegner was born March 30, 1937 in Hammond to Earl and Louise (Wilde) Wegner. He attended school at Hammond Public School. Wayne married Beverly Lingbeck after her death he married Millie Hutchison and was later divorced, on March 10, 1973 he married Phyllis Jean Lentz in Winona County.

Wayne enjoyed farming and worked for Penz Farms and Podein Herford Ranch. He farmed in the Mazeppa area since 2010. He especially loved to farm with his son-in-law, Val Adler. Wayne enjoyed spending time fishing, going for joy rides, and having coffee at Coffee Mill. He was a great story teller, and loved to go to the Dairy Queen.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean Wegner of Mazeppa; seven daughters, Penny Faber of Mazeppa, Sherry Wegner of Rochester, Jeannie Johnston of Dodge Center, Julie (Valyn) Adler of Mazeppa, JoAnn (Mike) Kunz of Rochester, Joy Wegner and Jolinda Wegner/Kunz both of Pine Island; two sons, Perry (Tammy) Wegner of Chatfield, and Vincent Wegner of Mazeppa; 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter due in October; four sisters, June Vagt of Mazeppa, Bernadine (Donald) Duncan of Wabasha, Phyllis Komisar of California, and Joyce McCormick of Rochester; and one brother, Ellsworth Wegner of Walker, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one sister, Kathy and one brother, Lyle.

Friends and family may visit from Noon on Wednesday, August 27th, until the time of service at the funeral home in Plainview.
