The funeral service for Wendella Handshaw will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor John Berg officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City.
Mrs. Handshaw, 77, of Lake City, passed away on Monday morning, January 11, 2016 at her home in Lake City with her family by her side.
Wendella Ann Peters was born December 12, 1938 in Lake City to Albert and Erna (Uslar) Peters. She attended rural Wabasha County Schools and Lincoln Highs School in Lake City and graduated from Wabasha High School in 1957. She married Floyd "Pete" Handshaw at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City.
Wendella lived her entire life time in the Lake City area. She enjoyed farming with her husband and raising her family on the farm. Wendella loved to go to garage sales, driving her old pickup, and reading books. She especially enjoyed gardening, raising vegetables and flowers.
Wendella is survived by two children; Dawn (Brian) Baer of Lake City, and Brian Handshaw of Welch; three grandchildren, Donna, Dana, and Dusty; one sister, Merriane (James) Marking of Lake City; and one brother, Elton Peters of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Pete on November 20, 1990.
Friends and family may visit from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City.
