The memorial service for William "Bill" Hartert will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16th, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating.

Mr. Hartert, 65, of Plainview passed away on Friday morning, August 11, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus.

William Joseph Hartert was born February 12, 1952 in Wabasha, to Arthur and Francis (Costello) Hartert, Jr. He attended school in Ft. Lauderdale, and in Plainview graduating from Plainview High School. On October 23, 1976 he married Diane Caves at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.

Bill worked as a plumber, and worked for Siefert Plumbing of Millville for 23 years. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying spending time golfing, and loved to maintain his lawn. Bill was a very good carpenter and loved wood working.

Bill was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Plainview American Legion, and Pheasants Forever. He especially enjoyed spending time with his dog "Norton" who was like his 4th child.

Bill is survived by his children, Melissa Hartert, Sunny Hartert, and Anthony Hartert all of Plainview; sisters, Kathy (Tim) Bignell of Eau Galle, WI, Ginny (Butch) Kronebusch and Joanne (Donny) Schultz both of Plainview, and Mary Lou (Gary) Fritz of Ogden, UT; brothers, Tom Hartert of Arizona, and John (Cindy) Hartert of Plainview; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Diane on January 21, 2011; and one nephew Brent Bignell.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
