The funeral service for William "Bill" Mangan will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview with Father William Becker officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Joachim's Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Plainview American Legion Post #179.

Bill 84, of Broken Arrow, OK and formerly of Plainview, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa OK.

William Joseph Mangan was born December 19, 1930 in St. Paul, to Robert and Mary (Byrne) Mangan. He grew up in the Twin Cities area and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1949. Bill went on to serve his country in the US Marine Corps from 1949 to 1952, he was at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War. He married Barbara J. Peterson on June 28, 1952 in Minneapolis, she died March 10, 1999. Bill married Bonnie Beach Lueck on June 1, 2000 in Plainview.

Bill started driving cab at the age of 14. After his military service he was a Minnesota State Trooper for 31 years. Bill also drove truck before he served in the military as well as while he served as a Marine, and during his time as a state trooper and following his retirement from the patrol. The Mangans lived in Moundsview and Onamia, MN until 1961 when they moved to Plainview. Following Bill's retirement as a State Trooper they wintered in South Texas for several years. Bill and Bonnie moved to Bella Vista Arkansas in 2000, and in 2014 they moved to Oklahoma. Bill was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled Veterans, Marine Corps League, and the Chosin Few.

Bill is survived by his wife Bonnie Mangan of Broken Arrow, OK; four daughters, Deborah (Brad) Winn of Backus, Kathy Kinney of Eagan, Nancy (John) Miller of West Salem, WI, and Sandy Schulz of Rochester; two sons, Steven H. Mangan of Shakopee, and Michael (Sharon) Mangan of Grapevine TX; 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Emmet Mangan, Jr. of Burnsville; one step-daughter, Susan (Thomas) Shockley and one step-son, Steven M. (Mary) Lueck both of Broken Arrow, OK; 4 step-grandchildren, and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Barbara.

Friends and family may visit from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, at St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Research.
