The funeral service for Wilma L. Sawyer will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23rd, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester, MN with Rev. Nancy Wheeler–Handlon officiating. Burial will be in the Oakhill Cemetery in Viola, MN.

Mrs. Sawyer, 92, of Plainview, MN and formerly of Rochester, died early Saturday morning, January 18, 2014 at St. Isidore Health Center of Greenwood Prairie in Plainview.

Wilma Lucille Parker was born August 16, 1921 in Elgin, MN to Fred and Alice (Williams) Parker. She attended elementary school in Wabasha County Rural Schools and then went to Eyota High School and graduated in 1939 from Elgin High School in Elgin. On September 15, 1940 she married Stanley Sawyer at Grey Eagle, MN; he died June 10, 2004. After marriage they lived on a farm in rural Elgin. Stanley and Wilma fostered two children, Hilary Lehnertz and Robert Overton. In December 1959 they moved to Rochester, and in 2013 Wilma moved to Plainview. Wilma enjoyed cooking, gardening, and quilting.

Wilma is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and three brothers.

Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23rd, until time of service at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester.
